## The short answer

Dubai Municipality's Warsan Nursery lists the lowest prices of any place we checked: indoor plants from about AED 2 to AED 60, open Sunday to Thursday, with no delivery ([Emirates 24|7, 13 May 2026](https://www.emirates247.com/uae/dubai-municipalitys-warsan-nursery-sells-plants-from-50-fils-heres-what-you-can-buy/1573)). Garden centres in Al Warsan and Al Quoz let you choose plants by eye. Online shops deliver, and most tabletop plants cost AED 25–110 there. Everything below was checked on **7 October 2026**.

- **AED 2–60** — Indoor plants at Dubai Municipality's Warsan Nursery (Emirates 24|7, 13 May 2026)
- **AED 25–110** — Where most tabletop plants sit on delivery shops' sites (Shop sites, checked 7 October 2026)
- **AED 320–1,000** — Common floor plants over 1.2 m in the shops we checked (Shop sites, checked 7 October 2026)

> **Warning: Prices change.** Prices, stock and delivery terms change without notice. This is a listing of places, not a ranking or an endorsement. Sizes are not standardised between shops, so compare plant height and pot size, not just the price.

**Plants most shops list**

- [Snake plant](https://plantguide.ae/plants/snake-plant.md) (Dracaena trifasciata): The most forgiving houseplant for a Dubai apartment: it shrugs off low light and dry AC air, and overwatering is the only real way to lose it.
- [ZZ plant](https://plantguide.ae/plants/zz-plant.md) (Zamioculcas zamiifolia): A near-indestructible houseplant for Dubai's air-conditioned rooms: it stores water in thick rhizomes, tolerates deep shade, and can go a month or more between waterings.
- [Pothos](https://plantguide.ae/plants/pothos.md) (Epipremnum aureum): A fast-growing trailing vine that tolerates the low light and dry air of a Dubai apartment better than almost any other houseplant, and roots easily from a cutting in water.
- [Parlour palm](https://plantguide.ae/plants/parlour-palm.md) (Chamaedorea elegans): The cheapest real palm in Dubai shops, and one of the easiest: it takes dim rooms and dry air, grows slowly and is safe around cats and dogs. Keep it out of vent draughts and check for spider mites.
- [Monstera](https://plantguide.ae/plants/monstera.md) (Monstera deliciosa): A big-leaved climber whose splits and holes appear only with enough light and room. In Dubai it wants a bright spot out of hot glass, a support to climb, and a place away from the AC vent.
- [Areca palm](https://plantguide.ae/plants/areca-palm.md) (Dypsis lutescens): A feathery, multi-stemmed palm that is non-toxic to pets. It wants bright indirect light and steady moisture; dry AC air brings brown tips and spider mites, so check it often.

## What indoor plants cost

Two shops can price the same species far apart, because plant height, pot size, packaging and guarantees differ. Compare ranges, not single prices, and compare at the same size.

**Price ranges by size, as displayed on 7 October 2026**

| Size | Roughly | Range seen in shops (AED) | Plants you will see at this size |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Tabletop | Up to about 50 cm, pot up to about 14 cm | About 12–165. Most listings on delivery shops sit between 25 and 110. | Pothos, snake plant, ZZ plant, peperomia, spider plant, small palms and succulents |
| Medium | About 50–120 cm, pot 17–24 cm | About 95–450, and up to about 700 for bigger pots | Rubber plant, monstera, areca palm, fiddle-leaf fig, dwarf umbrella tree, dracaena |
| Large floor plants | Over about 1.2 m | About 320–1,000 for common species. Statement specimens reach about 1,800 or more. | Areca palm, bird of paradise, dragon tree, twisted money tree, monstera on a moss pole |
| Moth orchid in flower | A gift plant, one or two stems | About 100–390, from single stems to multi-stem sets | Phalaenopsis |

_Dubai Municipality's nursery lists indoor plants from about AED 2 to AED 60 across all sizes, and IKEA lists pot-sized plants from about AED 8 to AED 245. Prices are as displayed on shop sites. Check at checkout whether VAT is included._

Several shops show crossed-out 'was' prices next to a current price. Compare the price you would pay today, at the same plant size.

## Good months to buy and pot up

Buy when you will not be carrying the plant home through peak heat. Airport average highs are 26–36°C in February to April and October to November, against about 40–42°C in June to August ([Wikipedia: Climate of Dubai](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Dubai)).

**When to buy**

- Feb–Apr, Oct–Nov: Buy and pot up — Average highs of 26–36°C, cool enough to carry a plant home. (plant)
- Jun–Sep: Hot-car risk — Average highs of about 40°C or more. (heat-stress)

If you must buy in summer, go early or late, shade the plant in the car and drive straight home. Tips below.

## Buying tips

1. **Check under the leaves.** Turn leaves over before you pay. Spider mites leave grey or bronze patches near the leaf veins and sometimes fine webbing. Mealybugs look like cottony fluff and leave sticky residue. Fungus gnats hover over wet soil (Colorado State Extension). Check the soil surface and skip a plant with any of these.
2. **Do not leave it in a hot car.** In summer a shut car heats up fast and can destroy a plant in a short time, and sun through the glass can burn leaves even with the AC on (University of Arkansas Extension). Shade the plant and take it straight home. Never leave it in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
3. **Quarantine it for a few weeks.** Keep a new plant away from your others for at least three weeks (Colorado State Extension), or up to six (Clemson Extension), and check the leaf undersides every week.
4. **Repot later, not straight away.** A new plant is already adjusting to your home's light and air, so leave it in its nursery pot for now. Repot when it shows it needs it, for example roots through the drainage holes or soil that dries out fast, and ideally in spring (Penn State Extension). Arkansas Extension also advises moving a new plant from a bright spot to its permanent place over four to eight weeks.
5. **Ask for the botanical name.** Common names vary, and in Dubai 'money plant' usually means pothos. If you have a pet, match the botanical name to the ASPCA list. See our [pet-safe guide](https://plantguide.ae/guides/pet-safe-indoor-plants-uae.md).

## Bringing plants from abroad

Plant imports are regulated by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE). Its [import service for agricultural consignments](https://www.moccae.gov.ae/en/services/import-permit) covers seedlings and plants. It says the importer needs a valid agricultural activity licence and an import permit before the shipment leaves, a phytosanitary certificate from the exporting country, and no natural soil attached to the plants. It does not describe a rule for a few plants in your luggage, so ask MoCCAE before you carry any home.

Choose houseplants by light, pets and room in the [indoor plants guide](https://plantguide.ae/indoor-plants.md).

## FAQ

**Where is the cheapest place to buy indoor plants in Dubai?**
Among the places we checked, Dubai Municipality's Warsan Nursery lists the lowest prices: indoor plants from about AED 2 to AED 60, as reported on 13 May 2026. It opens Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 3.30pm, and does not deliver.

**Can I buy from the Dubai Municipality nursery online?**
The May 2026 report says you can order on Dubai Municipality's website (hub.dm.gov.ae). Log in with UAE PASS, go to Services, then Agriculture, then 'Buy Horticultural Plants', choose your plants, pay, and collect them at the sales centre when you are notified. Delivery was not available.

**Which shops offer same-day plant delivery?**
Acacia Garden Center says same day in Dubai for orders before 1pm, and Plantsworld says same day in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman for orders before 2pm. Other shops offer next-day or fixed-time slots. Check each site's cut-off time and fees at checkout.

**Why do prices for the same plant differ so much between shops?**
Plant height, pot size, a decorative pot, packaging, delivery and guarantees all differ. Some shops offer a 14-day plant guarantee or settle-in promise. Compare the same size and what is included.

**Can I buy indoor plants at IKEA in the UAE?**
IKEA UAE lists pot-sized plants from about AED 8 to AED 245. On 7 October 2026 every plant on its site was marked unavailable for delivery, and we did not confirm stock in store, so check before you travel.

**Can I bring plants into the UAE from abroad?**
Plant imports need approval from MoCCAE. Its published service covers consignments and asks for an import permit, a phytosanitary certificate and no natural soil. It does not describe a rule for plants in personal luggage, so ask MoCCAE first.
